BlackBerry Bold 9700
Ever since it's initial launch as the Bold 9000, the BlackBerry
Bold has been an enormously popular smartphone, initially with a strong bias
towards business use, but increasingly with the broader BlackBerry community.
Quite simply, users love their BlackBerry Bold and the new BlackBerry Bold 9700
has expanded this handsets reach and popularity. The BlackBerry Bold 9700 is
consistently a top selling smartphone with all the mobile phone networks and
little wonder when you examine the spirit that is encapsulated in every curve,
edge, button and processor of this highly specified BlackBerry handset. [BlackBerry Bold

Warehouse says, when nothing but the very best will do, the
BlackBerry Bold delivers. What Mobile magazine gives the BlackBerry Bold
9700 a rare 'five star' rating and the handset was editors choice for December
2009. And when you consider the specifications and functionality of this
handset, it's easy to see why the BlackBerry Bold 9700 is one of the best
selling smartphones in the world - 3G and WiFi connectivity, push delivery
email, stunning high resolution screen, enhanced audio playback and a full
QWERTY keyboard. The BlackBerry Bold 9700 is smaller than the previou 9000
model, yet it's keyboard and general function has not been compromised, plus
battery life has been vastly improved and the processor runs at a nippy 624MHz.

BlackBerry Bold reviews
There is a common theme with all
BlackBerry Bold 9700 reviews - positive recommendations and glowing praise.
Below are a selection of excerpts from around the web, further endorsing the
merits of owning this highly popular BlackBerry handset.
Business phones dont have to be boring
Telegraph.co.uk: The arrival of the
first BlackBerry Bold last year proved that business phones dont have to
be boring: the screen used a new process to fuse the LCD screen to the outer
glass, resulting in super-bright, vivid colours. The slimmer Bold 9700 is the
best balance yet between comfortably narrow phone and conveniently wide
keyboard. [read more]
Bold 9700 - the ultimate BlackBerry
Robert Johnson (Know Your
Mobile):The new Bold is simply amazing to look at, being slightly smaller than
the existing 8900 Javelin and sporting the trackpad first
introduced on the low-end 8520. When put beside the original Bold, you suddenly
realise just how big the first one was. Even if the Bold 9700 wont be
your main phone (although theres no logical reason for not using this to
make calls), it is the ultimate BlackBerry. Better still, unlike other
manufacturers that bring out a new model every few months, you can relax in the
knowledge that this phone should be around for some time and wont be
obsolete by next week. [read more]
BlackBerry Bold 9700 - the best BlackBerry yet?
Chris Hall (Pocket-lint.com): The
BlackBerry Bold 9700 feels like the last step in an evolution of devices,
bringing together the form factor from the Curve 8900 with the tech specs of
the original Bold. It brings with it the two key elements that BlackBerry users
love: an excellent keyboard with which to abuse BlackBerry's excellent email
service. RIM will certainly evolve their BlackBerry offering and as it stands
the BlackBerry Bold 9700 is the best BlackBerry yet: a very comfortable device
to use, delivering its core functions with aplomb. [read more]
BlackBerry Bold 9700 - highly recommended
Rosemary Hattersley
(pcadvisor.co.uk): A slimmer, lighter Bold than the original model, we like the
substitution of the trackball for the touchpad and think this BlackBerry line
remains the most appealing that RIM offers. Time will tell whether qwerty
keypad fans find the BlackBerry Bold 9700's shrunken keypad an issue, however.
The BlackBerry Bold 9700 is a good-looking smartphone with a tremendous range
of features. Highly recommended. [read more]

BlackBerry Bold 9000 vs. BlackBerry Bold 9700
The first BlackBerry Bold 9000, whilst
popular, was a big handset, weighing in at 4.8 ounces - 4.48 inches in height,
by 2.6 inches in width. The battery life with the Bold 9000 was not good and
the handset would generally need daily charging and the camera was just
2-megapixels. Following this, the BlackBerry 9650 had similar dimensions, the
same weight and some slight improvements in battery life, playback time etc.
The Bold 9650 replaced the track ball with optical track pad navigation - a
great improvement, given the sometimes gritty experience that all BlackBerry
track ball users would be familiar with. Following very quickly was the
BlackBerry Bold 9700 - a significant step forward for this already popular
handset. With the BlackBerry Bold 9700, the weight is down to a comfortable 4.3
ounces and size, down to: 4.29 x 2.36 inches. Talk time increases from 4.3 to 6
hours and music playback increases from 12.8 to 38 hours! The Camera resolution
for the Bold 9700 increases to 3.2MP and includes flash, video recording and a
2X digital zoom (reduced from 3X digital zoom with the Bold 9000). Memory is
significantly improved with the Bold 9700 - 256MB onboard plus a 2GB microSD
card included, with expansion to 32GB available at extra cost. All Bold models
include GPS, WiFi and 3G network support.
Overall, the Bold 9700 is
vastly improved, looks nicer, feels better in the hand and has a more
responsive 624MHz processor. A very nice, very popular handset and great follow
on from the already popular BlackBerry Bold 9000.
