BlackBerry Storm vs

BlackBerry Storm vs Apple iPhone 3G
It was perhaps inevitable that Research in Motion would release a
touch-screen contender for the iPhone.
The
RIM BlackBerry
Storm that was launched to the UK in November 2008 exclusively with
Vodafone.
Since then there have been the inevitable YouTube BlackBerry Storm vs
Apple iPhone comparison video's and the Internet is littered with BlackBerry
Storm vs iPhone articles and reviews.
It's fair to say that overall,
each of these phones is phenomenal in it's own right. Both iPhone and
BlackBerry have their own very loyal following and the general consensus is
that iPhone users will not be lured away, whilst existing BlackBerry users will
be overwhelmed with the feature rich, highly tacticle Storm / Touch, which is
very much 'power in their hands'.
Both handsets have high resolution,
sensational screens and whilst the iPhone wins slightly on size and number of
available colours, the Storm wins on resolution and clarity when viewing video.
Another plus with the Storm (nee BlackBerry Touch) is the feedback given by
it's clickable touch screen, which is an impressive world first - a touch
screen that gives the sensation of buttons.
Each handset offers
formidable connectivity and whilst the iPhone wins for it's Wi-Fi, the Storm
reduces this slight edge with GPRS, EVDO, CDMA. Both smartphones have HSDPA and
full GSM connectivity.
In the Storm vs iPhone battle, further wins for
BlackBerry include a more highly specified camera (3.2MP & flash) and
greater memory flexibility with Micro SD expansion of up to 16Mb (soon to be
32Mb!). Aside from this, the iPhone has it's own highly intuitive proprietary
operating system (that iPhone users rave about) plus, with the
Apple iPhone now
being in it's second generation, it will clearly win on available applications
- although this gap is likely to be short lived as an army of developers get to
work on
BlackBerry
Storm applications.
The reality, is that in pure user experience,
both the iPhone and Storm have very broad consumer appeal and are a joy to use.
The BlackBerry Storm probably has more potential as a business smartphone,
although the BlackBerry Bold is probably better placed as the business
BlackBerry of choice. For the overall winner of the BlackBerry Storm vs iPhone
debate, it all comes down to personal choice and to how important Wi-Fi is in
the scheme of things. All that aside, our vote is for the
BlackBerry
Storm and the hard fact that BlackBerry continue to dominate the smartphone
market.
